Why would I need a Corneal Transplant?
There are a wide variety of diseases that can result in a cloudy or irregular cornea. Examples include: trauma, chemical or thermal burns, infections, ectasias (e.g. keratoconus), and dystrophies (e.g. Fuchs’ dystrophy). If conservative medical treatment cannot improve a corneal condition enough, then sometimes replacement of part of or the entire cornea is indicated to improve one’s vision.
